Prof.
Nickolai Kukhtarev
Research
Professor, Physics Department,
Alabama
A&M University
ABSTRACT:
We will present brief review of our
research results related to CENSIS goals. Optical, electrical ,
and acoustical effects in photorefractive and ferroelectric materials
will be considered. Optical effects include imaging of acoustical
and temperature fields with the help of dynamic holographic gratings.
Different selfdiffraction schemes: two-beam and single-beam, isotropic
and anisotropic diffraction, will be discussed and compared. Electrical
effects include photogalvanic pulsation that may be used as driving
power supply for increasing efficiency of dynamic holographic gratings
in photorefractive crystals. Compact photogalvanic-pyroelectric
source of electrons and X-rays will be discussed. Imaging and elemental
analysis with this compact x-ray source will be demonstrated.
