The Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing & Imaging Systems,
a National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center & the Awareness & Localization of Explosives-Related Threats - ALERT, a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence present:

The 11th Annual Research and Industrial Collaboration Conference

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

This year's RICC was held on October 19th 2010 at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. For over a decade, the RICC has fostered in-depth dialog among members of the academic, industrial and government communities interested in collaboration in sensing, imaging and detection.

The conference focused on “Research to Reality”(R2R), or transitioning university research to the field.  The day will begin with keynotes from program managers at NSF and DHS, who can speak to each agency’s perspective on R2R.  Presentations will align along three parallel tracks that are of great interest to the Gordon-CenSSIS/ALERT community:

homeland security and defense   Homeland Security & Defense

Civil and Environmental Assessment   Civil Infrastructure Assessment Track

Civil and Environmental Assessment   Biomedical & Biological

Each presentation was led by a researcher integrally involved in the work, who was joined by an expert in the field who spoke to the applications of the work and barriers to the market.

Following these talks, students presented their research in a poster session.  This year's list of posters.

The day ended with a series of small business collaboration and spin-off success stories.
