ThemePlease mark your calendar for the Bernard M. Gordon Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems' (Gordon-CenSSIS) annual Research & Industrial Collaboration Conference (RICC) on October 3-4, 2007 at Northeastern University. The RICC is the perfect setting for dialogue among members of the academic, industrial and government communities interested in collaboration in subsurface sensing and imaging. This year's RICC will focus on several areas that are of great interest to the Gordon-CenSSIS community:
The morning of Day 1 will feature keynote speaker Sanford Russell, Professional Graphics Manager at NVIDIA, who will speak about imaging applications for GPUs.
After the keynote, speakers from Massachusetts General Hospital will address the topic of multimodal breast cancer detection. Following these talks, students will present their research and lunch will be served. In the afternoon, student oral research presentations will be followed by a presentation on underwater technologies for exploration and port security presented by experts from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
The formal agenda will conclude with an industrial panel on career development, the presentation of student poster awards and closing remarks.
Day 2 will be a focused workshop called the First Workshop on General Purpose Processing on Graphics Processing Units. The workshop will focus on the GPUs that have become commonplace in many medical, civil and remote-sensing imaging applications and will feature invited talks by NVIDIA, AMD/ATI and IBM, as well as demos of some of the latest GPU hardware.
Select day one presentations will be made available online after the event. Copies of papers presented at the day two workshop will be made available at the workshop. In addition, selected papers will be part of a special issue of an ACM or IEEE journal or magazine.
Topics of interest include
Imaging Applications for Graphics Processing Units
Multimodal Breast Cancer Detection
SeaBED AUV for underwater exploration and Port Security
Collaboration Success Story: the ALERT Proposal
